Thinking About Orange Curtains

I'm currently loving these rooms with orange curtains. While I normally think of orange as a really bright color, they seem to give these rooms a really comfortable, home-y vibe. If I can find a similarly beautiful pair, I might use them as a starting point for a revamp of my bedroom.

The photo above is from Turner Davis Interiors.  In addition to the curtains, and the very cool horse print, I think the rug is amazing. Unfortunately, it's an old Pottery Barn rug that they don't make anymore.  (You can sometimes get lucky finding these on eBay.  This one is the "Kaley Bloom")

From New Orleans Cue Magazine, this room definitely has a fun French inspired twist.

I love  the mix of colors here. And, I think they painted an orange square on the wall behind the mirror to to add another splash of orange.  Interesting idea....

In a very neutral room, these orange curtains are the star.

Bringing Beach Towels Up a Notch

I've never given too much thought to my beach towels.  Actually, I think all of the beach towels I own were just inherited from my parents over the years.  However,  when I think about it,  a beach towel can make just as much of a style statement at the beach as your swimsuit or sunglasses (which in my mind, are two other beach style staples.)  So, maybe it's time to take it up a notch?

One Kings Lane recently made some of their popular prints into beach towels.   I have this print (Purchased from Etsy a while back) -- maybe I should pick up a matching towel?

I also think this simple nautical anchor would be pretty timeless.

Speaking of nautical,  I'm also quite partial to this one from Target.  I've always loved extra large towels,  so that is an added bonus.

Or, if you want something a little bit more fun,  perhaps this rainbow "SMILE" one from Bloomingdales.I might also be tempted to pick up a set of classic towels, from go-to summer outfitter Lands End.  At under $30, including monagram,  they seem like a pretty good deal. I think I'd go for my initials (instead of first name like pictured below)  to make it feel a bit more grown-up.

Currently Craving: Graphic Black & Gold Bangles

Most of my summer wardrobe is dedicated to light and bright colors, but as I got dressed today, I felt like my outfit was missing a statement piece.  I'd love to be able to throw on any one of these graphic gold bangles.

My 15 Minutes

The "street style" scene isn't quite as exciting in San Francisco as it is in Fashion-centric cities like New York and Paris. So, when I had my first (and only) run-in with a street style photographer a year ago,  I was pretty excited. I had totally forgotten about these photos until a coworker, Googled me and pulled up one of the pictures. It's no Sartorialist shot, but being a San Franciscan without access to fashion week, this will have to do for now.

Taken at Oysterfest in Fort Mason, May 2010.   While this outfit isn't particularly exciting, it's pretty representative of my weekend style: a bit preppy, comfy and, of course, a little dose of color.
