Craigslist Wishlist

Of course, I've found a bunch more great deals that won't currently fit in my one bedroom apartment.  (click on the images for links)

Awesome set of bedside tables that look like they're in great condition (and i love the brass drawer pulls!)

Marked just $145 for the set and I bet they could be bargained down.

Ornate mirror - The gold isn't my taste but I think it would look awesome painted a moody glossy black.

I'm picturing something sort of like this one that Michael made on design star, to create an awesome statement in a room like this.

These nesting tables are really awesome.

I absolutely hate the colored glass and $175 is above my normal craigslist limit  but getting glass cut would be relatively affordable and then you basically have the same thing as this $1,500 set from 1stdibs.

Happy hunting...

Golden Globes 2011 - Calvin Klein?!

I caught just a  few minutes of the golden globes this past weekend but I honestly could not get over how awesome Emma Stone looked.    She  has never stood out to me before but I think she nailed this look.   I love the fresh color of the Calvin Klein dress she chose and I think the simple styling was perfect.

Also in Calvin Klein, I think Claire Danes looked better than I've ever seen her!

I'm not usually a huge fan of Calven Klein.  The whole 90s' minimalist look just isn't my favorite. However, seeing TWO dresses I loved made me look back at some recent CK collections.  And, I have NO idea where these dresses came from!  The spring 2011 collection only had one dress in color (below) and obviously the shape isn't anywhere near as flattering as the two above. Where did these dresses come from? I couldn't find anything similar in recent Calven Klein resort or fall shows either. Boo.

Here's to hoping that someone rips off these dresses and brings it down to my price level.

Bay Area Craigslist Finds

I'm sort of addicted to trolling craigslist for affordable furniture finds.  There is always somebody who just needs to get rid of something so you can always find great deals!  Since there's not enough room in my 1-bedroom apartment to store all these pieces and projects, I figured I can keep track of them here to share with friends etc.
Click on the photos for the listings.
Check out these chairs!  Somebody already did the work for us! They look freshly painted ad covered all for - only $200!  These would look great in front of a big bay window or facing a sofa in a small living room.
This desk looks like it is in great condition and I love the hardware.  Would work perfectly as a vanity in a bedroom.
Check out this AWESOME dining set for just $150!  I love the lines of the chairs.  All it would take is popping out the seats and covering them with some fun new fabric.

I might even think about painting the chairs and swiching out the table with something a bit modern to get a look like this.

resolutions

hello, hello 2011, you came very quickly.  You crazy years keep sneaking up on me.  I'm not usually one for resolutions (especially public ones), but I'm giving it a try this year.  Perhaps the public acknowledgment will encourage me to keep them.

Here are the goals:

1- Spend more time on my hobbies.  In my 9-5 I do not get much time to spend much time thinking about design, decor or fashion, but I have a ton of fun with style. I hope to spend more time every week focusing on doing something creative  or at least sharing my ideas.

2- Blog. - Here it is, my blog.  Technically I can check this off the list.   I am resolving to  use this forum to stretch my creativity.

3- Eat less fake sugar.  I know, cliche.  (Thanks Gwenyth) I could easily drink 5 diet cokes in a day.  I have a feeling that's not great for me.  I'm not going cold turkey, I just think my body could use a break from those chemicals.

Happy New Year!

Edible Sparkles!

While recently doing some holiday baking, a friend mentioned she had picked up some "sparkles" meaning "sprinkles" and we laughed BUT, little did I know that there actually was such a thing as edible glitter!

While searching for an edible marker to put the finishing touches on some holiday cookies, I came across this:

While it may not look like much, look how lovely glittery stars make this cupcake:

I think its too late to pick up some of this glitter for holiday baking but it's definitely going on my list for next year.
