For the Love of Patterns
It's no secret that I love color and pattern. As much as a try to pull "basics" into my wardrobe and home decor, I always gravitate towards bright color and pattern. Typically this is in the form of stripes or polka dots but I prefer not to limit myself. I really love a good graphic pattern.
This brings me to my latest discovery, Pattern Cooler. It is an awesome resource that lets you build your own patterns for use in websites, blogs etc. Pattern Cooler gives you the basic pattern and you choose the colors and then the scale of the pattern. Simple PNGs are free to download and high-res files are just $5 to download.

Who says ceilings should be white?
When I was in high school I somehow convinced my parents to let me paint my ceiling yellow. (To compliment my then beachy blue-green walls.) After a minor miss-hap where I spilled the yellow paint on my white carpeting, I got my yellow ceiling and still love it. The sunny hue is an awesome contrast to the thick white crown molding I had previously begged my parents for.
Here now in my rental apartment, I'm wishing I could add a similar fun color to my boring white ceiling. Unfortunately, I think the hassle of painting it back when we move out is enough to prevent me from taking the time to do it. Either way. I've been perusing pictures, imaging what I could be looking up to.

I absolutely love this video as I do most things Zooey Deschanel touches. I love how she clearly just has fun with music and style and doesn't seem to take anything to seriously. In addition to having a darling collection of vintage dresses, she seems to be in to home decor. Her apartment was photographed for domino a while back and I loved the cobalt blue that she chose for her walls.
