Fun with Panoramas of the Golden Gate

On Saturday morning we were lucky enough to get out on the bay before the rain came in.  The bay was especially wind-less and flat which made for a super relaxing sail.  And, gave me a chance to play with my new favorite iPhone app: AutoStitch Panorama.  It automatically pieces together a set of photos  you take, creating awesome panoramic images.   The photos aren't perfect (if you look close there is a bit of ghosting and color variation) but they're a pretty cool way to quickly capture a scene. I especially love the distortion I got as we went under the bridge.

Tom Binns Inspired Nail-Polish & Rhinestone Necklace DiY

This is one of the simplest projects ever, but I had to share.   Here's the inspiration:

I just love Tom Binns' neon rhinestone creations, but can't quite afford the hefty price tags ($400 and up!). So, I picked up a few vintage rhinestone necklaces to re-create the look.

Like I said, the project is super easy:  I just pulled out some of my favorite nail-polish shades and painted over the rhinestones in a pattern that I liked. It might seem hard to avoid the little metal pieces that hold the stones in, but if you take a look at the Tom Binns versions, they're actually painted over, too. So, I didn't worry about it.

Here is a snapshot of me wearing it last week: Debuting my colorful DiY necklace

I actually have a couple of rhinestone necklaces that I was going to layer on top of each other to get a more impactful look, but I was happy with the single necklace for now. (We'll see how I'm feeling next week)

Polka Dot Pants in Action

Remember when I found an affordable pair of polka dot pants? I know the look isn't for everyone, but I've always loved polka dots and at under $20, these seemed low risk.  My review: the quality isn't great (they're a really thin rayon) but they are extremely comfortable (bordering on feeling like pajama pants) so, well worth it!

(Wearing: Forever 21 polka dot trousers, thrifted black blouse, Forever 21 rhinestone necklace, Banana Republic black platform pumps)

Today,  I paired them with a simple black button-down and pumps to let the pants be the star, however--next time I pull them out--I'm thinking might step it up with a bright colored oversized sweater.

Have you been experimenting with printed pants?  Let me know, I'd love more inspiration!
