I Just Discovered: Blendo Glass
Reading this issue of the online magazine Lonny, I discovered a style of vintage/antique glassware that I'm totally in love with. I can't find much detail about it but apparently Blendo glassware was produced by the West Virginia Speciality Glass Company in the 50's and 60s. It is a mix of clear and frosted glass often with gold detailing. What I love most about it is the cheery spring colors that it comes in! As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, I'm in need of some more color in my kitchen.
I'm surprised I haven't seen more of this at flea markets because there seems to be no shortage. Check out all the fun options that come up when you search "blendo" on eBay and Etsy.
Here are some of my favorites:
How cute would they look lined up on a little retro bar cart? Perfect for ladies night drinks or maybe even summer sweet tea?

NOOOOOOOO! I have been collecting this stuff for YEARS and now it's more popular and harder to find! When I bought my first set at a vintage store in Washington DC back in 1988, the guy at the store told me I was "on the cutting edge of this stuff." I had no idea!
I live in California now and finding Blendo here is way harder. I think because it was from a West Virginia glass company, it was more of an East Coast thing.
Just kidding about the nooooooo. Well, maybe not!
Blendo Glass is indeed made by WV Glass Company. the gold trim is a signature mark of WV Glass. I have toured the Factory and it is AMAZING to see!
I have found many pieces at Goodwill and yard sales. I could do it the easy way and order from Ebay but its the thrill of the search for me. My friend just got me a piece that I had not seen before. The sniffer. I just need to find the small glasses that match it now. She found it at a flea market for $1.00. I Love It!!
