Customize Your Furniture O'verlays

Have you seen "O'verlays" yet?   I'm all for furniture makeovers, and these unique fretwork pieces make it easy to get custom/expensive look for very little money using thrifted or Ikea furniture pieces.   I love the preppy look they gave the Ikea dresser above with the "Anne" O'verlay (below)

Or, you can get a little more modern and unique with one of their "Danika" patterns.

I love the unlimitted creativity you can have with colors and shapes! If you have an old dresser, give it a try!

White Denim + Chambray

Looking for a fool-proof way to style your white jeans or denim shirt (it's OK if you're still scared of the Canadian tuxedo look) well, meet your new summer uniform:  white jeans and a denim shirt. And here are some fashionable ladies proving that together white and chambray make a great pair!

Krystal added some platforms to make her legs look extra long...

Samantha from Could I Have That proves it works just as well with skinnies and boots.

I love Annalynne Mccord's super retro high-waist white jeans.

Maybe throw on a blazer to make the look a bit more office-appropriate...

Or maybe some black pumps?

Glossy Walls!

I've recently been enamored with glossy painted  (or lacquered?) walls.  It's not something I could ever achieve in my rental apartment, but I love how glamorous and unique they make a space.  The dark glossy colors look great in rooms with lots of windows and natural light  and I think this wall treatment would be an awesome touch in a cozy manly den.

DiY Polka Dot Cutoffs Project

As spring rolls around, denim cutoffs tend to become a wardrobe staple.   I've got a couple colors and lengths, but this time I decided to play around with a little bleach.

Using a bleach pen and some scissors, I turned an old pair of jeans into a fun pair of polka dot cutoffs!

The process was super simple:

  • Cut off old jeans to preferred length
  • Cut cardboard or thick paper to line the shorts (so the bleach doesn't soak through)
  • Use a bleach pen (like this) to draw dots onto the shorts
  • Wait... (I let my bleach soak overnight for almost white spots, but I also did a test for about 30 minutes which works great if you want more tonal polka dots)
  • Rinse out the bleach, and wash and dry your pants as normal

Here are the end results!
