How to Wear Green (for St. Patrick's Day and Beyond)

Since I've got green on the brain this week, I figured I'd share some of my favorite green street style pictures for inspiration.

How darling is this shrunken little green jacket?

This shot is a bit more minty; I love the varying tones and textures.  I also think gold+green is a great combo and that necklace is a fun choice.

This etheral shot makes me want to throw on a maxi skirt and picnic in the woods.  How perfect is the green with her bleach blond hair?!

Of course, the stunning Duchess in a silk long sleeve green Diane von Furstenberg dress:

Blogger Liz from Late Afternoon in some stunning green wide-leg Alice + Olivia pants, a floral blouse and a classic trench.

I wish I could casually throw on a (green) silk maxi dress in the way Hanneli does.  She always manages to look perfectly effortless.

Here is a more approachable street style shot of a simple green skirt and sort of schoolgirl-esque look, toughened up by a leather jacket.

Ahhh.... and here is the illustrious green suit.  With a simple white blouse and a pair of white pumps, this look is easy, yet pretty perfect. (make this in shorts, and I'd buy it in a heartbeat)

Get the Look for Less: Colorblock Spring Dress

"Colorblocking" is still a huge trend this season, and it's an easy way to brighten up your wardrobe with some bold spring colors. I was especially inspired by this striped dress, one of my favorite from Heidi Merrick's spring 2012 line. But,  if $440 is too pricey for you,  I've found a couple of cute alternatives that will give you the same look for less.

Check out Madewell's darling silk sleeveless colorblock shift dress, on sale for $120.

I love the kelly green in this Matty M. version  ($128 at Lord & Taylor)

If you're a pink person, Asos has a simple option for just $64.

Here's another short sleeve version that  has a bit of a nautical feel. ($158 at Nordstrom)

These dresses would all be great spring investments, you can easily wear them for a casual afternoon out with flat sandals and maybe a hat (like in the Heidi Merrick photo) or, throw on some high-heeled sandals and sparkly jewels for a more formal spring event.

Happy shopping!

Little Black Dress: Olivia Palermo

How perfect is this little black dress on Olivia Palermo?  It's just the perfect blend of flirty/retro/classy... A little bit 'Brealfast at Tiffany's' and a little bit Jackie O.... I'd throw it on any day...not to mention that model boyfriend...

Real Life is for March

I wouldn't normally condone pairing blue and yellow together (#GoStanford), but since Leap Day only comes once every 4 years,  it is only fair to celebrate it properly and do something I wouldn't normally do.

Hope you're having a great day! Live every leap day like it's your last...

Repurpose Clip-On Earrings as Shoe Clips

Adorned shoes and even shoe clips seem to be popping up everywhere recently (even Madewell) which led me to consider ways to jazz up my own shoes.  In one of my antique fair trips, I realized that the large clip on earrings that I love might actually work on my shoes.

I thought I might have to buy some shoe clip backings to make them work,  but no need.  I just used the earring clip to snap them right onto my shoes:

It's a super easy way to repurpose costume jewelry and give life to your old shoes. (Even kinda remind me of Carrie's blue Manolo Blahniks)

I threw them on with  pair of jeans last week, but I think the clip-ons would work equally as well  on a pair of black pumps with a LBD for a more formal night out.

(Wearing: Zara green suede pumps with vintage clip on earrings,  Seven jeans (super old), J.Crew silk blouse, Nordstrom boys navy blazer)
