Look for Less: Ankle Strap Black Pumps

This fall pointed pumps are back in a big way.   I adore this silhouette from Alexander Wang, but I'm considering this $49 pair from Zara instead.

Splurge:  Alexander Wang Black ankle strap pumps - $485

Deal: Zara black suede ankle strap pumps - $49.90

The Perfect Black & White Spotted Flats

My most recent shoe purchase happens to be this pairof calf-hair dalmatian print flats, and I had to share. I spotted them in a store window and went straight in to pick them up.   They feel like a slightly more versatile version of leopard, and  I love the slightly pointed toe shape.   Since I've already been wearing them like crazy, I predict they'll be a staple in my closet by the time fall starts.  Plus,  I saw that Old Navy is offering a strikingly similar pair for just $24, So I figured I should share a roundup of similar pairs for those of you who might want to pick up your own version.

Dalmation Black and White Spotted Flats

4. Diane Von Furstenberg "Madison" black and white calf hair flats ($250 at Neiman Marcus)

DiY Inspiration: Painted Espadrilles

Growing up, I definitely had a pair of converse and  a pair of Vans that I decorated myself with some super fancy doodles(Along with white out decorated backpack -- did anyone else do that?!)    ..... Anyways... I would have been totally OK  to leave drawing on my shoes as a thing of the past, but I recently saw these darling customized espadrilles on J.Crew's blog, and now I'm heavily considering delving back into the art of shoe-doodling.

My favorite are the stripes and the anchor pair (big suprise!)

You can pick up your own Soludos here for just $28.  I think it might be fun to start with the yellow and add either stripes or my own ditsy anchor design.

Repurpose Clip-On Earrings as Shoe Clips

Adorned shoes and even shoe clips seem to be popping up everywhere recently (even Madewell) which led me to consider ways to jazz up my own shoes.  In one of my antique fair trips, I realized that the large clip on earrings that I love might actually work on my shoes.

I thought I might have to buy some shoe clip backings to make them work,  but no need.  I just used the earring clip to snap them right onto my shoes:

It's a super easy way to repurpose costume jewelry and give life to your old shoes. (Even kinda remind me of Carrie's blue Manolo Blahniks)

I threw them on with  pair of jeans last week, but I think the clip-ons would work equally as well  on a pair of black pumps with a LBD for a more formal night out.

(Wearing: Zara green suede pumps with vintage clip on earrings,  Seven jeans (super old), J.Crew silk blouse, Nordstrom boys navy blazer)

Spring Shopping: Madewell

Spring is always the hardest season on my wallet because I LOVE color, and we are coming into that special time of year when every retailer embraces color.    J.Crew has done it in a big way this year (I can always rely on them for my favorite brights), however I was surprised that their historically more neutral little sister, Madewell,  is also bursting with color right now.   Don't these looks have you giddy and ready for BBQs and beach days?

While I'd happily wear almost any of the pieces above, (and I see a pair of yellow jeans in my future)  I have limited myself to one new piece: a pair of their colorful flats. I just can't decide, kelly green or cobalt blue?
