A Super Cute (Baby) Gift Idea: Customized Blankets

On a recent hunt for a baby gift and I stumbled upon Butterscotch Blankees and I had to share. I think these customized blankets make great gifts for new babies AND adults.   They offer a full range of colors, so you can choose a classic baby blue or,  something more sophisticated that might work on adult bed:

At just $52 for the "Stroller size" custom blanket seems like a totally reasonable gift.   It took me forever to knit a baby blanket a couple of years ago. And, while I think something handmade is more special,  there is just not time in the day to knit one everyone.

I'm also considering this Hermes look-alike for myself. (The fact that my last name starts with an "H" makes me want most Hermes merchandise and this chic blanket is no exception, but almost $3,000 seems a bit excessive for a blanket.)

If you don't have any new babies you're shopping for, maybe think about ordering a custom throw for a unique Christmas gift?

Happy shopping!

Poured Paint Art by Holton Rower

I recently watched this enchanting video of Horton Power's painting process and I had to share.  They pour layers and layers of colored paint and let gravity build these awesome art installations. Clearly the choice of colors, the amount of paint and speed in which they pour dictates the end result and I love how they create such varied layers of color.   It would be awesome to see these in person, but I think even photos of them could make interesting wall art.

I wonder if it's something I could re-create in a small scale at home. They must take forever to dry.

Some Girly Pop Art

I'm not sure where I originally came across Heath Killen's work, but I love his bold illustrations.  He seems to have done everything from album covers to corporate info-graphics but it was this series, "Ordinary Flora" that I bookmarked a while back and keep coming back to.   I love anything pop-art style and I think his graphic combinations are just perfect!

I think it is a bit too girly for my co-ed apartment;  however, if I had my own space (maybe a craft room one day?), a giant version of this would be hanging in it.

I love this one too....How great would they look in a graphic black and white room?!

Happy Friday!

Wedding Style: Have you Seen Kate Moss's Dreamlike Wedding Photos?

Have you seen these? (Sorry for the repetition if you have!) I perused the September issue of Vogue in my recent travels (yes, it's already out!) which featured photos from Kate Moss' recent wedding and I was completely enthralled.   Not surprisingly, the amazing Mario Testino took some awesome pictures, but it was the photo of Kate with the wedding party in the trees that really blew me away.   The angelic flower girls in gauzy white dresses and  flower crowns honestly remind me of  pretty little fairies. (in a good way!)

The article mentioned that she wanted her wedding to be completely different than what people expected and I think she achieved it!  These photos make it feel so relaxed and simple!

Love this mother daughter shot too:

Monday Flowers

Happy Monday!

Sorry for my lack of updates! I just got back from a week in the mountains for a family reunion.  (Yes, my SECOND week long vacation this summer!)  We were in Breckenridge, Colorado which was amazing and I feel so lucky to have spent quality time with family members from around the country.  I'll share some Colorado pictures later this week, but this morning I just wanted to start the week of with some colorful floral inspiration :)

A cousin told me a great story about meeting his husband on a bike ride through the tulips in Holland, a trip which is definitely on my bucket list.   I  adore tulips and the colorful Dutch fields seem so magical! Check it out...

 Fields of Gold

Can you imagine walking through those fields?! Stunning!
