Hello, Sunshine

San Francisco has been hit with a sudden heat wave - 75 degrees and sunny is a huge change from the freezing rain we had last week (and from the chill we get 95% of the time) This summer-like weather has got me craving some bright yellow.  If there is a color that I believe in it's yellow.  It can make a room so cheery and warm, even on a grey day. I can't believe I don't have more of it in my apartment.  I'm thinking with the changing of the seasons, I'm am going to try and find some fun yellow pillows to bring more of the color into my living room.  But, next time I start from scratch,  I'm going to keep these sunny inspiration photos in mind. (Found around the internet, click on photos for sources)

Awesome Palmer Weiss kitchen nook.  I love the giant 60's poolside print and cheery yellow ikat.

Yellow and orange from Martha Stewart.

How about this amazing yellow chevron rug? (via DecorPad)  I'm not usually a fan of those driftwood tables but because I love so many other things in this room, I don't mind it.

A little bit moodier yellow found on Emily Henderson's blog.

From Decorati, another room that combines a giant beach photo with bright yellow.  (I'm kind of obsessed with these large beach prints.  More on that another day)

I Just Discovered: Blendo Glass

Reading this issue of the online magazine Lonny, I discovered a style of vintage/antique glassware that I'm totally in love with.  I can't find much detail about it but apparently Blendo glassware was produced by the West Virginia Speciality Glass Company in the 50's and 60s.  It is a mix of clear and frosted glass often with gold detailing.  What I love most about it is the cheery spring colors that it comes in!  As I mentioned a couple weeks ago,  I'm in need of some more color in my kitchen.

I'm surprised I haven't seen more of this at flea markets because there seems to be no shortage.  Check out all the fun options that come up when you search "blendo" on eBay and Etsy.

Here are some of my favorites:

How cute would they look lined up on a little retro bar cart?  Perfect for ladies night drinks or maybe even summer sweet tea?

Like I need more TV to watch.

Well, regardless of whether I watch too much TV, I'm excited to see Emily Henderson's new show tomorrow. In case you're not familiar with her,  Emily was the winner of the Design Star  show on HGTV last year. Emily was my favorite contestant on the show from the beginning--she won my heart with her adorable style and love for vintage pieces.   Eventually,  the judges agreed. And, winning the design star contest means Emily now has her own show!  It will be such a breath of fresh air to have a young, likeable star of a design show.   Secrets of a Stylist premiers tomorrow, and I can't wait to see it!

Check out these pictures from her portfolio to see how talented she is:

I love how she always manages to work in the perfect bit of royal blue!

Tory Burch's Colorful Home

I don't own any Tory Burch pieces.  I'm a fan of her line but its just way out of my price range. However, I  think she has done an amazing job designing and decorating her stores.

The one here in SF is fully decked out in my favorite colors (orange and green):

Or, there is the more beachy SoCal version:

Since I love these so much, it was no suprise that her home has an equal amount of style.

Check out these pictures from this month's InStyle, found via the The Tory Blog.

How cool are the glossy red walls in her dining room?

This living room is pretty traditional but somehow manages to still be totally inviting.

I love the total commitment to the blue pattern in this breakfast nook.

(I also think that orange shirt dress is basicallyperfect)

While I'm at it, what impresses me most about Tory Burch is that she started her business from her kitchen table.

Bay Area Craigslist Wishlist

I'm seaching for the perfect vanity/desk for my bedroom, but I honestly can't peruse Craigslist without finding a host of awesome pieces that I WISH I could take home with me.

I am a serious sucker for a deal, and I love a one-of-a-kind piece furniture.  Even if you don't know the story behind it, it's great to know that it has a story.

Check out this art deco waterfall style dresser.  It looks like it's in pristine condition, and they're asking just $200 for this PLUS a vanity and a bed!  I think the dresser would look great in a dark masculine/bachelor style bedroom.

If you're a bit more feminine or into the whole "shabby chic" look, this dresser seems like it would be a great buy for under $100.

If this table would fit in my tiny living room, I would be on my way to pick it up now.

I can imagine it fitting perfectly into this living room Jonathan Adler designed.
