Black and White Decor Inspiration

I repainted my bedroom last week (pictures coming soon) and I'm currently in the midst of re-painting and upholstering the bed. However, I've been having a tough time finding the perfect fabric. I had a bold colorful pattern in mind, but after searching through multiple fabric stores, I think I'm now leaning towards a black and white fabric.   Now, the decision is whether or not to keep the rest of the room monochromatic or not.  I think it would be really hard for me to stick to a super simple color palette, but I adore the way it turned out in these rooms.  I think the addition of gold or natural wood tones adds the perfect amount of warmth.

Stunning black and white wallpaper and entryway.

Black, white and gold by Ralph Lauren via Habitually Chic.

Kelly (aka the Glamourai) decorated her entire apartment with just black, white and gold.

I just can't decide if the simple color palatte would feel timeless, or just get boring...

Blog Crush: Lovely Pepa

I found super cute Alexandra, aka Lovely Pipa,  on Lookbook.nu a couple of months ago and she slash her daily fashion posts are so cute that I had to share! Agree?  I love that I can get fashion inspiration from a girl across the globe that I don't even know! (She's a 23 year-old in Spain)  She does a great job making simple basic pieces look chic and modern.

Closet and Organization Inspiration

I'm in the midst of cleaning/re-organizing my closet and I thought I'd take a break for some inspiration. I'm lucky enough to have a big walk in closet, but it's the main storage for our 1-bedroom apartment so it gets messy quickly.   One day,  I hope to have an entire "dressing room" dedicated to my clothes etc  like Jenna Lyon's closet above.  For now,  I'm just going to work on organizing....

Anybody have any tips for keeping stacks of shirts/sweaters neat?  For me, those are always the first thing to start getting messy.

Colorful Suits for Spring 2012

I've got suits on the brain.  And, once I decided I was looking for the perfectly unique suit,  I started noticing them everywhere!  There was an especially colorful selection on the spring 2012 runways, including lots of neon and pink.

Gingham for the Home

Sticking with the preppy vibe that i started out with this week,  I want to focus on on a classic pattern that has been everywhere recently.  I love GINGHAM and right now, it seems like everybody owns at least one gingham shirt.  But,  have you thought about using it in your home decor? It might sound a bit scary... many of us think red picnic table cloths or super kitschy cottage looks, however, if used right, gingham can be a totally funand modernlayer of pattern in a home.  Here are some fun examples I've seen recently on the interwebs:

I love how this punchy striped chair and old ship painting funk up this traditional feeling wallpaper.

Again, this wallpaper looks classic, but the colors and other items in the room make it feel modern. Gingham kitchen ceiling from Apartment Therapy (I've said before, I think the decorative impact ceilings can have is under appreciated)Or, you could look down and update your floors.

Another gingham wallpaper, I love the bright and airy feeling of this dining room.

Herve Pierre went extreme with gingham in his bedroom (photographed by Todd Selby)

Check out this settee - it can totally be a neutral, too.

This little upholstered chair from Canadian House & Home is too cute not to include.

Gingham can be found in just about every color of the rainbow and the size of the squares can range from a from tiny and neutral to large and graphic squares, making it extremely versatile. So,  why not give it a try in your  next project?
