Craiggers!

Clearly I am a huge fan of bargain hunting on Craigslist, so I was stoked when a friend told me about Craiggers, which is basically a better interface for searching the classified site.  Craiggers gives you access to all of your local Craigslist postings, with a much more browse-able interface. Plus, the website  makes it possible for you to mark items you like with a star (way better than keeping a list of URLs in a Word doc, which is what I usually do) And,  you can save searches.  Since I have a list of "go to" search terms,  I love that I can pull up the results quickly.

Needless to say, I've found a few items I'd love to pick up...

A great looking set of campaign dressers, just $75!

I love slightly masculine feel and the brass accents.

This pair of chairs might need refinishing, but they are a great shape!  They could be totally worth a little time.

I'm kind of loving mustard yellow right now  and these chairs would be a great pair in a cozy living room.

Maybe they'd work to create a more modern version of this Martha Stewart room:

 Happy Hunting!

Tommy Hilfiger Summer Prep

I am a lover of all things preppy,  especially in the summer months when that includes  bright colors and nautical inspired looks.  Although Tommy Hilfiger traditionally had a prep vibe,  their clothes had gone a different direction over the past decade or so.     I was so happy when I came across their ads in fashion magazines this spring, to see that Hilfiger has gone back to their roots! I love the over the top Hilfiger "family" in their current campaign (Kind of Royal Tenenbaums/Wes Anderson-esque?)

Here is the commercial for the campaign:

Tommy has also built a bunch of cool interactive  pages on their site.   Not surprisingly, San Francisco didn't make it on to the list of "Prep World" cities.

I think it's cute how they had Lisa Birnbach, author of The Official Preppy Handbook, comment on all of their key pieces.  And, they just look so fun laid out together like a packing list for a summer at a country club (below)

The longer I look at this,  the more I have to keep reminding myself that I just won't get a lot of use out of madras shorts and tennis skirts this summer...

Affordable Chevron Rug

Wowza,  I just stumbled  upon a great affordable rug option at Urban Outfitters and I had to share.   I honestly hate shopping for rugs because all of the good options are super expensive (and you can't buy used or refurbish them like you can with furniture)  So,  when I find a good, affordable option I always bookmark it.

If I hadn't picked up this ikea rug within the past year, I would definitely order one of these zig zag beauties.

The soft blue (above) is lovely, but I'm also a fan of the more graphic black and white.   I considered this similar chevron rug from West Elm before I picked up the ikea one. If I was going to do it over,  the version below is a similar style/weave and less than a third of the price

A woven rug won't last you forever, but in San Francisco, where most apartments are required to have carpeting/rugs, it's a great affordable option!

The J.Crew Blog

I find that J.Crew is a pretty great source of fashion inspiration.   I'm a preppy girl at heart (except for when I'm in Vegas)  and I love the way that J.Crew always ads a little bit of flair (with things like sparkles and neon) when styling their preppy basics.   Now in addition to their regular catalog,   J. Crew has started blogging!     Check it out - I love their "Who's Wearing What" posts, and it's cool that they're not just highlighting J.Crew clothing.

How cute is this Lucky editor?

Or,  the pets they've been highlighting?

That's all.. I just had to share...

Packing for What Happens in Vegas

I just got back from a weekend in Vegas, and one of my friends suggested share "what to pack" on my blog.  So,  this is it.

Coming from San Francisco, it was exciting to get to pull out all my warm summer clothes for the weekend away. My essentials include:

For day:

- The tiniest bathing suit that you're comfortable wearing.  Because, trust me, ladies will be wearing much smaller ones.

- short shorts/cut-offs - My warm weather go-to.

- Sunglasses

- Sunscreen

- A hat (because there will inevitably be a point where you can't be bothered to re-apply said sunscreen)

For night:

- A romper! I own one romper (from Forever 21)  and the only place I've worn it is vegas.  However, as my friends will tell you,  I love it!  You avoid the risk of over-exposure  that you get from short skirts and they are super comfortable.

- Your most comfortable sky high heels  I debuted a new pair of color blocked Nine West ones (above) this weekend.  I stress the comfortable part because f you're out late, your feet will start aching in even the most comfortable shoes.

- A miniskirt and silky top.  Jeans don't fly in vegas clubs.   So, if you're not into the romper look (I know I'm in the minority here)  either a tiny dress or miniskirt are in order. I like a flowy top (extra points for animal print)  and a bright colored skirt.

And,  because I didn't think to take any outfit photos of me actually in Vegas, here is me en-route.
