Shop My Outfit on ModCloth!

A couple of weeks ago I got an email looking for volunteers to shoot a look for ModCloth's "Shop Our Outfits"  section and I quickly signed up.  It was an awesome experience that I couldn't wait to share with you guys!  They brought a bunch of Bay Area locals into their offices for a lovely day of pampering and exploring - a total blast!  One of their stylists picked the look for me (below) based on my winter wishlist and I think she did a great job capturing my style.  Obviously, I'm not over red pants  and I also loved the coat and polka-dot chiffon top they put me in. (If I didn't already own multiple polka dot chiffon tops,  I'd have taken it home with me haha) I love how ModCloth always has  "real" girls model their clothes and I was honored to be a part of it.  Now,  if only I could get a professional photographer to capture my outfits more often...

Check out the pieces from the look here.

Indian Summer Prep from Chance

The indian summer has finally arrived in San Francisco and the warm weather has me craving some preppy basics.  To me, the Chance clothing company is the epitome of perfect summer style.   I love the breezy photos from their summer lookbook. (above and below) Give me a striped top and a simple scarf and I'll be good to go.

Founded by Julia Leach, a former creative director of Kate Spade (another favorite of mine),  Chance is based around the perfect simplicity of the striped shirt. Here are some of my favorite pieces from Chance:

Left to right, top to bottom:

Classic blue & white boatneck striped top ($60)

Red espadrilles ($48)

Sailor knot necklace ($255)

Striped zip-top cases ($38)

Chambray button down shirtdress ($110)

Cotton voile kerchiefs ($38)

Men's Style-Edition: Chubbies, radical short shorts

This is a bit of a shameless plug (and those of you who follow me on Twitter have already seen me hyping them), but I'd like to introduce you to Chubbies, radical short shorts for men.

This guy,  who happens to be my boyfriend, is starting a short shorts revolution.  Gone are the days when men's shorts graze their knees.

Luckily, Chubbies come in an amazing rainbow of colors. Why you ask, would I want a pair of shorts as we head into fall?  The facts are here, but the real answer is that they are the most comfortable shorts you'll ever own.

Cheers.

The Suit, Reinvented with Colors & Shorts

I've always had a fascination with women's suits.  When done right, they give off such a cool "I'm totally put together, but still completely effortless" vibe.  (Not achievable with the ill-fitting navy/black suits that everyone buys for interviews in college.)  I especially love light colored suits or suits in alternative fabrics like linen or chambray; extra points for shorts. Ever since seeing this photo (below) by The Sartorialist this February, I've had my eye out for the perfect bright colored suit.

Another recent inspiration image was this chambray number, pinned from Glamour.com

Amazing photographer Garance Dore captured her friend in this white suit, accesorized perfectly with a denim shirt and converse.  See what I mean by effortless?

This one gets double points for shorts+pattern.

A friend wore this one (currently on sale at Asos)  recently and I was extremely jealous. (I prefered the look with her simple white tank to the orange top they styled it with.)

Olivia Palermo's look is more classic, but with a modern fit

I haven't found the perfect (and affordable) version for myself, but I wore a makeshirt version of one to work this week...

(Wearing: Gap pants, J.Crew shirt (birthday gift), Forever 21 blazer, Charles Jourdan shoes)

Fall Style-Edition: On the Hunt for the Perfect Weekend Boots

As fall approaches, I am on the hunt for a new pair of short boots. I have this pair but I'm looking for something in a relaxed lighter color.  The ideal pair would have a sturdy enough heel to wear all day and be a simple enough style that I could throw it on with anything from jeans and a tee to my favorite flowy dress.   With the Rachel Comey (top left) as inspiration, here are the contenders for my fall purchase:
