Green Living

With  St. Patrick's Day on Thursday,  I figured  I would celebrate one of my favorite colors - green! I've painted two bedrooms green and I think it is an awesome, warming color in a home.   I especially love bright kelly green  but I really believe that any shade can make a room more fun.   Here are some of the most inspirational green spaces I've bookmarked recently:

Stunning green campaign dresser console from Vanessa De Vargas's entryway in Lonny last year.

..

Awesome green grass-cloth & statement making headboard found on Pinterest.

Graphic and glossy green kitchen from an old Domino.

Perfectly tailored green curtains and matching chair from House Beautiful.

Another inspiring green bedroom from Lonny.  How awesome is the ceiling?  Plus, I love the concave mirror and gold starburst wall sculptures.

Retro Floral Prints

Florals? For spring? Ground breaking. (So said Miranda Priestly, Devil Wears Prada)  Yeah, I know it's not ground breaking, but I am totally craving a vintage-y floral print skirt. But, I'm on top of it because it's not even spring yet, right?  How can you not love a colorful flowery print? I understand it's a total cliche, but I've seen a bunch of fun floral skirts out there and I think pairing them with a simple button down or striped t-shirt would look totally fresh.  And, what's doubly exciting, is that  I think one of these almost antique looking floral prints will look just as great at the office (especially the pencil shapes) as they will when I'm  headed out to brunch on the weekend.

1- J.Crew Watercolor floral pastiche pencil skirt - $110,

2- LOFT Antique Floral Skirt - $69.50

3- ModCloth Blooming on the Horizon Skirt - $29.99

4- Gap Floral Skirt - $49.50

5- Vero Moda Winter Floral Tulip Skirt - $53.79

6- Madewell Flea Market Floral Skirt - $98

Penny Lane - Almost Famous.

I don't re-watch movies very often but every time I catch this on TV, I get sucked in.

This scene is one of the main reasons

I also love the relaxed 70's style throughout the movie. -- Wouldn't you want to be on a bus with this cast?

Inspiring Design: Tori Mellott

I saw a blog post on the latest One Kings Lane "Tastemaker" Sale and I'm so happy to see that it's Tori Mellot. I don't know much about her but I know I love the spaces she has designed for herself.

One of my all-time favorite pictures that I ripped out of my Domino magazine's is this image:

I've had it in my binder for a couple years and I still LOVE it every time I come back to it. She has the perfect combination of fun/whimsical elements with a comfortable and almost classic vibe.

Moreover, the rest of this little apartment of hers was also perfectly done. Here is the kitchen:

She does such an amazing job of making the classic toile wallpaper look fresh and modern - right?

And, if you aren't impressed enough. Here was the image that the magazine ran as the "before" shot. I'm not a huge fan of purple but still, years later this doesn't seem like a "before" to me.

And, for good measure, two more lovely vignettes.

It's so cool to see how she used some of the same art pieces in different collages through-out these apartments.
