How to Wear: Green Pants

Bright denim is everywhere, but a lot of people struggle with what to pair with statement pants.   I recently picked up a pair of green corduroy, so I figured I'd share some ideas.

Look #1: A day of shopping

A white blouse is a no-brainer pairing with bright colored pants.  Kelly green looks great with brown tones and I think leopard is a fun twist.   Pull it in with a scarf or pair of shoes like the look above.   Throw on a worn in leather jacket, and you're ready for a Saturday of shopping with some friends.

Look #1 Pieces:

Blouse: Equipment white silk sleeveless blouse ($188, Shopbop)

Necklace: Belle Noel side wishbone gold necklace ( $45, Shopbop)

Shoes: Leopard sidewalk skimmer flats ($135, Madewell)

Pants: J BRAND green corduroy skinny jeans ($78, The Outnet)

Jacket: Brown leather double breasted bomber ($495, Madewell)

Look #2: Comfy brunch

Second to a white blouse, I think chambray is the easiest top to wear with bright jeans (or in this case cords).  Paired with some low-heeled boots and a fun nautical scarf that almost matches, you're good to go.

Look #2 Pieces:

Pants: MEK Emerald Denim 5-Pocket ($89, Last Call)

Shirt: Light washed two pocket denim shirt ($60, Madewell)

Shoes: DV by Dolce Vita brown leather boots  ($129, Shoes.com)

Bag: Clare Vivier navy blue leather cross body satchel ($210, Bodie on Fou)

Scarf: Navy and green nautical sailboat scarf ($10, ModCloth)

Look #3: A night out

Don't think that you can't wear green pants for a night out?  You can!  This coated pair works great with a sleek black tuxedo blazer and whimsical blouse.  By letting the jeans be the only color in your outfit, the look becomes more evening appropriate.  The casual striped clutch keeps it from being too serious.

Look #3 Pieces:

Blazer: AllSaints black tuxedo blazer ($295, AllSaints)

Earrings: Gorjana rose gold hoop earrings ($64, Zappos)

Clutch: Clare Vivier black and white striped leather clutch ($173, Shopbop)

Pants: Current/Elliott Coated low-rise stretch-denim skinny jeans ($80, The Outnet)

Blouse: Moschino polka-dot silk-crepe tie neck blouse ($795, Net-a-Porter)

Shoes: Sam Edelman black suede pointed pump ($100, Cusp)

Green + Blue Decor Inspiration

Green and blue go perfectly together, and I love how lively and fun they can feel when layered in a room. Recently, I've been especially feeling this color pair, when layered with a range of different versions of green, blue, and teal/turquoise colors in between.

This living room took a bolder approach, but I think the green in the sofa helps break up what could have otherwise been an overpoweringly blue room.

These beautifully graphic green curtains are perfectly complimented by the turquoise sofa.  A standard beige sofa wouldn't have nearly the same impact!

How to Wear Green (for St. Patrick's Day and Beyond)

Since I've got green on the brain this week, I figured I'd share some of my favorite green street style pictures for inspiration.

How darling is this shrunken little green jacket?

This shot is a bit more minty; I love the varying tones and textures.  I also think gold+green is a great combo and that necklace is a fun choice.

This etheral shot makes me want to throw on a maxi skirt and picnic in the woods.  How perfect is the green with her bleach blond hair?!

Of course, the stunning Duchess in a silk long sleeve green Diane von Furstenberg dress:

Blogger Liz from Late Afternoon in some stunning green wide-leg Alice + Olivia pants, a floral blouse and a classic trench.

I wish I could casually throw on a (green) silk maxi dress in the way Hanneli does.  She always manages to look perfectly effortless.

Here is a more approachable street style shot of a simple green skirt and sort of schoolgirl-esque look, toughened up by a leather jacket.

Ahhh.... and here is the illustrious green suit.  With a simple white blouse and a pair of white pumps, this look is easy, yet pretty perfect. (make this in shorts, and I'd buy it in a heartbeat)

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Don't forget to pull out something green :)

Decorating with Green Accents

Green is one of my favorite colors, especially in decor (I've painted two bedrooms green) and while I think it is a great wall color,  it's also a fun color to use as an accent color in an otherwise simple or neutral room.

Here are some of my favorite rooms with green accents.

The green curtains in this grey dining room are to die for.

There is a lot going on in this living room, but my eye goes right to that green ottoman. I would put that into my living room in a heartbeat!

I love how this green velvet chaise adds a touch of glamour to this otherwise rustic feeling bedroom.

This room is more glamorous to start, and I think the bright green pillows add the perfect bit of whimsy.

Still Loving Green

Even more green items caught my eye today.  Not only do I love a good dose of green in my home but I love wearing it too.  It's probably too late to pick up something new to avoid getting pinched but I think these pieces will work year round (or, at least into spring)

1 - Target Paterned Dinnerware ($21.99) - Great retro dishes for summer by the pool.

2 - Asos green belt ($57) - The perfect splash of color for jeans and a tee or a LBD.

3 - Lotus Bleu Pillow ($68) - Spruce up the sofa for spring?

4 - Green Striped Aubin & Wills Shirt ($65) - A classic.

5 - Cole Haan Handbag ($398) - A splurge but a preppy bag that won't go out of style.

6 - Handmade ring ($140) - Beautiful organic shape with just the right amount of shimmer.

7 - Pleated Maxi Skirt ($1195) - I know this is way out of most people's price range but I love the flowin pleates.  American Apparel has some similar ones but I don't love them quite as much.  If I had it, I'd style it just like this.

8 - Nixon Green Watch ($60)- Just for fun.

9 - Target Printed Chair ($299) - Would add just the right pop of green to a neutral living room.
