Thanksgiving Table Inspiration

Somehow Thanksgiving has snuck up on on us once again. So, I figured I'd pause for a little holiday inspiration.

This setting might be completely un-realistic, but how awesome would it be to eat Thanksgiving dinner in this perfect outdoor setting?

If you're planning an indoor dinner (duh), I love this simple white table setting from Martha Stewart.

On the other hand,  I'm always inspired by Eddie Ross' table-scapes.   This Thanksgiving table he did for Lonny a few years back is outstanding.  I love the mix of patterns,  the rich gold accessories, and the contrast of the orange flowers and blue glasses.

If Eddie's eclectic traditional look isn't your vibe, you can always stick to basic black and whites.

And, if all else fails,  pull out the gilded spraypaint and gild some pumpkins and dried corn.

Remember the "instant" room from last week?  Well if  you got bored of that more classic look, check out how quickly you could mix it up by just replacing the rug and accessories.

Blue and white cheetah lumbar pillow ($165 at Society Social)

Style Inspiration from Mandy Moore?

It may be that I have never gotten over the arm bands and midriffs in Candy, but I have have been inspired by Mandy Moore's recent fashion sense.  She seems to have gone from a generic Hollywood star to a fashion week A-lister overnight.

Mandy has especially been a hit in Lela Rose.  Check out this black and yellow look from Lela Rose's Spring 13 show accessorized with the perfectly worn in  leather jacket.

I also loved this vanilla Lela Rose dress that Mandy wore to the CFDA awards.  Perfectly accessorized with bright pink lips and a simple ponytail.

And finally, this poppy-red Lela Rose dress that Mandy wore to her Spring 2012 show looks like it's a dress that would work in any woman's closet for work, drinks and beyond.

Back to Spring 13 fashion week, you know how I feel about suits and I think this khaki look + pink pumps was a perfectly modern interpretation.

And,  here Mandy is  in blue and black with another killer leather jacket.

What do you think? Enough evidence to forget about "Candy"?

Instant Style: The Blues

A lot of people are scared to buy saturated furniture pieces, and then end up with the same beige sofa and chair set in their living room. Don't be afraid of buying big furniture pieces in color!  As long as something is a classic shape, in a color you like, you can always make it work.
Here is my first example:  a navy blue sofa.  Look #1 is a pretty simple/classic living room with a variety of blue shades.

 The pieces:

Blue & White mixed pattern pillows ($45 on Etsy)

Grey-Blue sheer window curtains ($15 at Target)

Tufted yellow linen chair ($1,698 at Anthropologie)

Natural stump side table ($159 at West Elm)

Multi-color bird migration abstract ($130 at ImageKind)

Tonal blue stripe rug ($320 at Lulu and Georgia)

Navy performance velvet sofa ($1,099 at West Elm)

Inspiration: Striped Rugs

I'm in the need of a new living room rug, and on the heels of my my nautical obsession I've got stripes on the brain.   Right now we have a totally neutral rug, but I'm thinking I might want to change it up with some bold stripes.

I love how the blue color in this striped rug brings the whole room to life!

Here is an example of how a graphic stripe can take a whole room from white and simple to show-stopping.

Nautical perfection (obviously I love this!)

I won't ever get over how awesome this bedroom from Domino is.  Kinda makes you want a room with 2 twin beds, right? (maybe one day when I have a guest room?)

This room is a lot more eclectic -- I love how the black and white stripe rug makes it feel a bit modern.
