Bay Area Craigslist Wishlist

I'm seaching for the perfect vanity/desk for my bedroom, but I honestly can't peruse Craigslist without finding a host of awesome pieces that I WISH I could take home with me.

I am a serious sucker for a deal, and I love a one-of-a-kind piece furniture.  Even if you don't know the story behind it, it's great to know that it has a story.

Check out this art deco waterfall style dresser.  It looks like it's in pristine condition, and they're asking just $200 for this PLUS a vanity and a bed!  I think the dresser would look great in a dark masculine/bachelor style bedroom.

If you're a bit more feminine or into the whole "shabby chic" look, this dresser seems like it would be a great buy for under $100.

If this table would fit in my tiny living room, I would be on my way to pick it up now.

I can imagine it fitting perfectly into this living room Jonathan Adler designed.

I <3 You.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Valentines day!

A valentine I made for my sweetheart.  After sharing with him, I figured I should spread the love.

Hope you had a perfect February 14th!

Baby Animals

I can't remember where I first saw Sharon Montrose's photos but I keep coming back to them.   She has an amazing way of capturing the personality of an animal.   I really love her photos  but I haven't pulled the trigger because I'm not sure if it makes sense for me to hang a picture of a cute little baby animal on the wall of my "adult" apartment.  I think a huge print (she sells them as big as  40" x 52") would make a great statement piece on a wall (and sort of take a way from the cutesy-ness).  Unfortunately, that's a bit out of my price range right now.   So, I'm trying to figure out: Would a small grouping  of these prints hung up in a corner of my kitchen or bathroom look too kid-ish?  I think it might make me happy looking at them every day.

Here are some of my favorites (Click on them to get to the print shop)

I've loved flamingos since I was a kid.  (I think because they're pink?)

They kind of make you smile, right?

It turns out cute eCards do exist

I'm not a proponent of using eCards or email, especially not using them in place of real paper cards because there is really nothing better than getting a beautiful note in the mail. However,  I do think eCards are better than no card at all!

That being said… trying to find a non-tacky card online is a bit tricky. There are a bunch of sites that try to charge for them, but who is going to pay for that?  (Not me!)

Well, here comes Kate Spade to the rescue.   With Valentines day coming up, their lovely website gathered a bunch of super cute illustrations and animations from fun artists (here) and set them up for easy (and free) email delivery.  It was hard to pick my favorites but here are a few:

This one is an awesome stop motion animation. I can't figure out how to pull in the gif so see it here.

If I buy a store bought card, it usually involves a good pun that will make the BF smile.  That in combo with a vintage postcard of hugging donkeys! Love it.

Just cute.

My First Before and After

Our living room has come a long way since we moved in. We've moved a lot of things in and out but I'm pretty happy with our current layout.  I had a hard time with the room because the combination of the limited plugs and 2 doorways make the layouts limited.

When we first moved in (around Christmas time as you'll see by the picture below)  we picked up some furniture from the street (literally, someone accross the street dumped it)  The sofas were comfy for a while but I was just not happy with the dark color and they took up too much floor space.

I didn't take any post-Christmas photos but this should give you the idea.

Here is my before and after:

I'm trying to figure out some ways to add color to the room, but I'm pretty happy with it for now.

Here are some other angles:
