Cute Art from Paint Chips

I've been following Jessica who blogs at How About Orange for at least a year now, and she always has fun projects and "How To's."   Her most recent one was so simple and cute that I had to share.

She showed how to take these:

And make this darling little aret piece:

All she did was cut the paint chips into triangles, arrange them in a pattern she liked and pop it in a frame.  (read the full How About Orange "how to" here)

This would totally work with any colored paper, but I love the texture  and saturation of the paint chips!

(I take no credit for the idea or photos.  This is all re-posted from How About Orange. I just loved it and had to share!)

Over the Sea....

I have a total obsession with all of the fun (and affordable) art available on Etsy.   This one from Laura Amiss is my current favorite.   I love how the waves have kind of a 60's/Yellow Submarine vibe.

Whimsical San Francisco Illustrations

As a native of the Bay Area and living in San Francisco,  I often find myself drawn to city themed art.   I'm full of California pride and I love seeing my city reflected back to me in it's best light.   Recently, I've had my eye on a bunch of fun and whimsical San Francisco prints.

All the prints below  are under $100! Click on the images for more info.

Black Botanicals

I love old botanical prints,  but my favorites are the ones with black backgrounds.

Something about the black makes them feel much more substantial and even a bit manly.  I see a huge variety of old botanical prints at vintage shops and antiques fairs but the black ones seem to be much harder to come by.    So, I was excited to see that One Kings Lane  had some great looking and affordable reproductions available today.   If you've got a  blank wall that you need to fill, check them out:

Here is an example of how a black botanical can make a great statement piece over a bed:

Happy Friday!

Doodling

Poking around on Fossil's website the other day (did youk now they sell things other than watches?  Including some cute leather goods and summer dresses?),  I found an awesome sketchbook that made me wish I kept some type of journal.   Back in high school, I did a lot of collage-ing and art projects but most of that has taken a back seat.   Even if they just live in a sketchbook, how cute are these little pieces of art?

All images above from Fossil  and said to be drawn by their designers.
