Oxblood - The Color of the Season?

When the end of September rolls around, I find myself drawn towards saturated fall hues like maroon, mustard and deep greens. This reddish brown color is nothing new, but it definitely seems to be the color of the season.

1 - Open knit oxblood sweater – an easy way to wear the color of the season, this cozy sweater works great with jeans and a pair of classic riding boots. ($76, TopShop)

2 - Lauren Ralph Lauren cross-body leather bag – I love this super classic equestrian vibe of this bag.  ($228, Zappos)

3 - Snakeskin round toe pumps with gold details – perfect fall office shoes that won’t go out of style ($128, Banana Republic)

4 - Oxblood asymmetrical chiffon skirt  - Brings a bit of the summer’s flowy skirts into fall.  Perfect with a pair of booties ($76, TopShop)

5 - Oxblood Ribbed Pleated Skirt  - A bit of a ‘back to school vibe’ with the pleats, I think the oxblood and some simple ($68, TopShop)

6- Pour la Victoire oxblood leather envelope clutch – works for an iPad, or just as a super sleek evening clutch ($124, eBags)

My Look: Windblown Stripes

Caught of few photos of my outfit the other day.  I'm not the type of person who can let my favorite dresses sit in the closet waiting for the perfect opportunity to wear them, so I tend to layer them with more casual pieces (like this trucker jacket)  to make them wearable for more "everyday" occasions.  I picked up this Lauren Moffatt dress a few years ago on Gilt, and I think it's the perfect mix of classic with a twist -- I expect it to stay in my closet for years to come.

The details:

Blue and green striped silk dress  - Lauren Moffatt, via Gilt

Denim trucker jacket - Levi's

Strappy sandals - J.Crew

Rafia clutch - Forever 21 (Similar)

Beachy Photo Prints

My latest fashion obsession is a trend that has been all over runways for the past couple seasons -- photo prints.  The clincher was this photo I spotted of Olivia Palermo and Tibi designer Amy Smilovic that I spotted on Pinterest.

I just adore Amy's Stella McCartney Skirt and how cool does it look paired with a simple white tank?

Here it is in all of it's glory (70% off at Net-A-Porter!)

I think there is something cool about the "midi" length, but I'd also love this short version:

Obviously, the Hawaiian print is quite a statement,  but I also like some more subte photo prints.  Check out this dress from designer Caron Callahan's spring line.  I love how the landscape print almost looks like stripes from a distance ($315 at Les Nouvelles)

Even TopShop is in an the action with this darling pleated landscape print mini skirt by Marios ($110 at TopShop)

So, what do you think -- are these landscape prints fun or just too trendy?

Boyfriend Jeans?

I go back and forth on "boyfriend" jeans....On one hand,  the relaxed, saggy fit totally casually gives off the "I just rolled out of bed looking like this" vibe that I'd love to achieve when I'm getting dressed... however,  they often just end up looking unflattering and frumpy on women.   I keep thinking this style will disappear, but I continue to see stylish women, wearing boyfriend fits and looking fabulous! So, what do you think?

Check out this timeless Parisian girl in oversized rolled jeans and perfect brown leather oxfords.  Tres chic.....

Although flats can work (above)  heals seem to be the best way to make the boyfriend fit a bit more flattering.

I bookmarked this image because of her beautiful braid, but the outfit looks pretty good, too.

I leave you with two images of J.Crew's Jenna Lyons to mull it over...
