10 Ways to Wear a White Dress (from FabSugar)

I always love style features that provide inspiration for wearing an object a bunch of different ways. Because, lets be honest, it doesn't make sense to buy new dress every time you want to change up your look. Not only does this video from FabSugar give you some fun ideas about how to style a super simple white dress, but I just thought the video was cute.  Plus,  I've always loved a little white dress.

White and Rustic

I think it is fascinating how much I can love a style, but know that I would never put it in my home.  I often come across images of simple, mostly white and natural colored rooms that I LOVE; however, I am so drawn to color and pattern that I don't think I could ever commit to such a simple palate in my own place.

Here are some examples of rooms that I'm completly inspired by, but just aren't "me"

Maybe one day I'll have enough space/houses to play around with my style a bit more.

The J.Crew Blog

I find that J.Crew is a pretty great source of fashion inspiration.   I'm a preppy girl at heart (except for when I'm in Vegas)  and I love the way that J.Crew always ads a little bit of flair (with things like sparkles and neon) when styling their preppy basics.   Now in addition to their regular catalog,   J. Crew has started blogging!     Check it out - I love their "Who's Wearing What" posts, and it's cool that they're not just highlighting J.Crew clothing.

How cute is this Lucky editor?

Or,  the pets they've been highlighting?

That's all.. I just had to share...

Lady of Style: Iris Apfel

It's rare for me to find fashion inspiration from a woman who could be my grandmother, but Iris Apfel is definitely an inspiration at any age.    I think it's  wonderful that Iris  pops up all over the fashion scene,  sitting front row at shows, inspiring designers etc. (Plus her role as what she calls 'geriatric starlet' is partlydue to street photographer Bill Cunningham, whom I adore.) There is something to be said for 80+ years of fashion experience.   Not to mention having a clothing collection worthy of display at the MET!    Iris says her mother "worshiped at the altar of the accessory" - and Iris very clearly learned a lot from her! She has an amzing ability to layer on a chic piles of jewelry.

I loved this recent Nowness video that featured her and some other wonderfully stylish older women:

This video interview with her also has some awesome photos that show her style evolving:

"You only have one trip, you might as well enjoy it"

Here is another wodnerful article about her. It makes me want to never get rid of another piece of clothing or jewelry again!

Hello, Sunshine

San Francisco has been hit with a sudden heat wave - 75 degrees and sunny is a huge change from the freezing rain we had last week (and from the chill we get 95% of the time) This summer-like weather has got me craving some bright yellow.  If there is a color that I believe in it's yellow.  It can make a room so cheery and warm, even on a grey day. I can't believe I don't have more of it in my apartment.  I'm thinking with the changing of the seasons, I'm am going to try and find some fun yellow pillows to bring more of the color into my living room.  But, next time I start from scratch,  I'm going to keep these sunny inspiration photos in mind. (Found around the internet, click on photos for sources)

Awesome Palmer Weiss kitchen nook.  I love the giant 60's poolside print and cheery yellow ikat.

Yellow and orange from Martha Stewart.

How about this amazing yellow chevron rug? (via DecorPad)  I'm not usually a fan of those driftwood tables but because I love so many other things in this room, I don't mind it.

A little bit moodier yellow found on Emily Henderson's blog.

From Decorati, another room that combines a giant beach photo with bright yellow.  (I'm kind of obsessed with these large beach prints.  More on that another day)
