Circular Photo Prints (an Etsy Roundup)

I've had a recent obsession with circular cropped photos.  I think it's especially intriguing with seascapes, because the shape is reminiscent of looking out a porthole.  But, the shape also adds some interest to what might be otherwise generic photos as well.   I think these would a great way to break up rectangular images in an art collage.

calm seas circlular porthole view print // $29

Circular pale green trees print // $30

desert color circular collage // $13

Yosemite Falls retro colored nature circle print // $42

Happy Friday! (And one oversized ice-cream print)

Consider celebrating the end of the week with this large scale print of a tasty looking soft serve ice-cream cone. (Just $50)

More fun (and huge) prints by artist Debbie Carlos on Etsy here.

(I also love this bunny!)

Ocean Beach, San Francisco

Ocean Beach, SF

I am totally in love with large scale beach photos  but my favorites from Massimo Vitali and Christian Chaize tend to be from tropical/exotic spots that I've never visited.  However, to my surprise (via Pinterest) I stumbled upon this stunning photo of Ocean Beach  that I think would look just as amazing as a huge statement print.

I'm considering heading over to the Cliff House one day and attempting to re-create it myself...

(imitation is the best form of flattery, right?)

Why not blow up your family photos?

I think photos are a really important part of personalizing any home.  However, homes can often be cluttered with tons and tons of photos leaving visitors overwhelmed with where to look.    So,  why not pick a favorite (and fun) photo to make the focal point of a wall?  One of my favorite examples is this underwater photo (above) from of Lulu de Kwiatkowski's Los Angeles home in Lonny Oct 2010.

Here is another one of my favoites,  that designer and photographer Lori Andrews did of just a family's legs. (how cute?!)

This big black and white photo in an orange accented dining room is also darling.

One last example (probably price prohibitive for many), the Novogratz blew up a black and white photo to wallpaper a bedroom.  (Pretty fun, until they're teenagers...)

Photography Style-Edition: Heart Shaped Bokeh

Played around with a bokeh filter last night and I wanted to share the first images that I came up with.  I've  been waiting a few days for a clear evening to see if I could get a fun heart shaped silhouette of the Golden Gate Bridge; unfortunately it seems to be the wrong season for that. In the mean time - check out how a simple piece of paper with a heart cut out can change the view from my camera.

I had been wanting to play around with bokeh shapes since I saw this on Color Me Katie.   If you're ever looking for a pick-me-up,  stop by her blog! She is always doing someting silly and colorful, like taking a colorful walk through NY...
